Kings & Queens of the Castle

Climbing comes naturally to most kids and in a woodland of towering beech trees Imagination can run riot.

When storms topple anĀ ancient tree it provides a natural and accessible play space. Even when it is being sawn into logs for firewood it can be rather like playing within a large game of spillikins though (at this stage) the pieces are too large for kids to move them.

Where the rings of wood are flat on the ground they can become “stepping logs” or tea tables for dolls eager to picnic while larger logs make wonderful dinosaurs, dragons, pirate ships orĀ perhaps even castles.
